Legoland Florida hotel host an evening show for kids, and performers we given the opportunity to create the theme behind their individual costumes. I was supplied details on three performer summaries, researched ideas, and created several thumbnails before choosing the final design under the direction of our costume supervisor. These costumes were then created by the seamstress team.
Beginning the summer of 2023, I was assigned my first few shows. I conducted the fittings, made alterations, and created/added the design elements such as trim and appliqués to the costumes. I also created costume renders for shows such as Playtime with Hopsy, Very Important Monster Halloween bash (focusing on cuff alterations), and Atmospheric Elves/ North Pole Postal Service/ Elfe Training Academy.
A new LEGO build location opened, and I was tasked with creating inspired designs for the venue, with a purple hoodie as the base. After drafting several templates due to deadline needs, seamstresses later took those designs and brought them to life.
Go Xtreme was a new offering to the summer of 2022 line up, and I collaborated with production in designing a cohesive costume look for the show. I also contributed to creating the appliqués that went on the costumes. (Costumes constructed by seamstress team.)
My graduate thesis was an ensemble of costumes representing feared entities of human rights atrocities. After two years of reading and research, I constructed each dress to represents an aspect of the human rights violation such as Impunity, resistance, indiscriminate weaponry, propaganda, retaliation and terror.
The following group of images are examples of my sewing process and renders from my costume design course.
